Suppliers for Door Locks?

Another one of mine failed today, rear right.
Funny thing is I changed oil today and when I did a scan the fault showed, no issues with the lock had been observed. Sure enough it is stuffed, will not unlock. It is like the scan caused the issue.

Has anyone got any tips on how to open the rear door once the lock has given up ?
I assume I'll spend more time trying to get the door open than it will take to do the repair.

Thinking of getting a helper to press the unlock button repeatability while I pull like crazy on the handle and probably belt the door near the lock to try to budge it.

Keep trying, or be prepared to drill a hole in the door.

Not as crazy as it sounds, as it's on the inside.

I had my front door refuse to budge - thankfully I had been working on it and only had 2 srews in each edge and none in the bottom.

removed the rear door and hinges to get the door skin undone and pulled it back far enough to access the mechanism (my issue was self inflicted )
whats does VCDS report for the door ?

Ive not experienced the microswitch issue some you tube vidoes depict but have had the main lock motor in both front doors fail due to bad contacts internally (probably because the with motor only rotates something like twice in a movement and always stops and starts from the same point)

Interesting you say this, just had my car at the mechanic to get the air conditioning sorted. I'm guessing they did a diagnostic scan, now my rear right will not lock!

at least if it doesn't lock you can still open it.

When Nats locks started playing up the first thing I did was disable SAFE lock so at least if the actuator wouldn't unlock it you could still manually unlock the door.

As I was taking my door apart again today, I was wondering what years are people's cars who are having the issue? Given it seems to be a manufacturing defect with the motors, could it be possible they corrected this in later model years?

Mine is an MY07, also have problems with another Mk5 MY08. It seems to me that it's just a flaw in the design of the locks used throughout the Mk5 production.

Feb 2015: RH Rear - Genuine replacement $276
Sep 2016: RH Front - (Sick of paying for locks now) D2P Auto Parts $83
Jan 2018: LH Front - (couldn't get this one from D2P Auto Parts) Ebay $32

I was pretty quick at changing them by the last one so i figured I could buy 8 for the price of 1 genuine if the ebay one died.
