take it to a VW specialist. why dont you want to take it to a VW service centre?
Hi Folks,
I wonder if anyone has had the same issues with the supercharger intake on a GT Sport 2008 model (1.4, 125KW)?
The cars seems to be running a bit rough when starting recently, when the choke is on. It sounds like there's a slight mistiming every 4-5secs like the timing is out on a cylinder?
The engine warning light came on flashing so I turned the engine off and on again and that seemed to fix it. As a matter or precaution I took it to the Kmart garage at the end of the road. They said a fault code for the Supercharger intake had registered however the engine light hasn't stayed on. When driving it seems ok and the Supercharger & Turbo seem to work ok. I'm just worried incase I might be doing damage to the engine internally?
About six months ago the engine management light came on and stayed on. I took the car to Euroclass for a service and they informed me the following codes had registered.
P2261 Boost Pressure Control Valve
P2263 Turbo / Superchager system fault
P2015 Intake manifold flap position.
They changed the spark plugs and a coil and that seemed to do the trick. The guy at the time said these engines have lots of faults and he'd seen several blowing up.
I've since read of problems with Piston Rings on these engines amongst lots of other faults. The car has only done 7000Km's since that last fault (total 76000KM) so I don't think it can be the spark plugs. Fuel shouldn't be problem as I run 98 and from Shell, BP or Caltex so not the same garage all the time. I've tried to use Octane Boost and Injector cleaner and that helps slightly.
If anyone has any ideas or have had the same issues it would be great to know. Especially if it's a big or expensive one as cash is a big tight at the moment.
Are there any good or recommended Non-VW service centres anyone can recommend. Preferably in the Inner East or Inner West or Melbourne.
Many Thanks
Jono

The cars quite old and a VW dealer will charge and arm and a leg. I was hoping that someone might recommend a decent VW specialist and that it might be a simple fault or one they've seen several times before. The dealer will still charge a hefty price even if it's a simple fault. Plus the dealer I brought the car from looks like it's changed hands and I don't enjoy their level of service.
The GT motor is not like the rubbish 118 with regards to piston failures. I've only seen a tiny amount with similar issues.
You def need to go to VW specialist as the faults read out from the other scanners are only slightly correct.
Going from what you have mentioned I suspect that manifold changeover flap is faulty and also diverter valve is faulty. May also need N75. These are common items on a car with a few km's on the clock.
1+ for the above....them 3 parts would be my fix....seen a few GTs last month...always seem to need about 3 different parts to fix every time.....also check that the manifold change over isnt worn out inside the manifold itself....VDUB...

Yeah, the N75 is a tricky beast. I've just had to change this on my GT Sport (same model). My dealer told me that on this car the N75 doesn't do verbose logging in to the VCDS so the only way to confirm it is to run diagnostics directly on the unit.
My failure was turbo-related and required the N75 plus the N249 (specific to the turbo) to be replaced.
My understanding of the engine is that this TSI was a pretty robust engine (in the words of my dealer: the last good one VW made). The 118 TSI engine is the one that started the run of significant problems.
Hi Guys,Thanks for all the tips and handy insights. In the end there were a few problems.Supercharger backed off before turbo kicked in so the N249 code registered. This was fixed by replacing the Boost Valve and Turbo Bypass Valve. The issue with the rough idle at start was due to a software update not being done by the dealer when I purchased the vehicle. It also required an update of software for a leaky injector issue which hadn't been installed either.I took a recommendation from this forum and used this guy who was brilliant (details below). He fixed all the issues and completed a service at the same time even letting me provide the parts otherwise he'd supply genuine VW part at trade prices + fitting. In case you should need his details for yourself. I can't recommend him enough, it was like having your mate who's a VW expert fix your car. So much cheaper than a VW dealer and so much easier.ElvisVolks Autohaus volksautohaus@yahoo.com.auMobile: 0414 833622H
