Seat belt stalk

Can somebody tell me what the wiring to the seat belt stalk does, I assumed only the chime if you do not put belt on or does it do more?

Seems the switch inside is playing up thought maybe I could disconnect at the plug under seat I know you cant remove yellow connector at seat front this throws a code.

The yellow connectors indicate they are related to airbag circuit.
It is possibly used as a sensor for airbag activation, I believe the bag will not inflate if the seatbelt is not being used.
