R32 breaking down?

My son has an 08 DSG r32, and for the first time since he's owned it, he took off with his foot flat to the floor, which resulted in the car surging or breaking down in the upper rev range. Accelerating moderately to full throttle does not induce this, and the car is smooth and beautiful to drive. So, what is the best procedure to get this looked at, will it need to go on a dyno to load it up, or are there other diagnostic methods to check what the issue is?

When were the spark plugs last changed?

As above - sounds like its mis-firing in the upper rev range when under load. Check spark plugs and ignition leads in the 1st instance.

ok, thanks. he has not long bought the car, so it will need servicing anyway. Is there a recommendation for anyone in Brisbane that specializes in R32's?
