Has anyone here done the upgrade to projector headlights and was it worth it.

    Thanks.

projector head lights vs reflector head lights

    Mid change over to these...

VW Golf Mk5 Projector Headlights 2005-2008 (fits halogen headlight models) - Supernova Lighting

I think the authentic projectors require some wiring modification - not 100% sure.

Supernova projectors are 100% worth it IMO - I think they're selling them for about $400 now, and it's an easy DIY job. Makes night driving on country roads feel way safer.

I did on my Mk6. Purely for looks alone it was worth it as the projector lights made the car look much more aggressive from the front. And the actual light performance was far better at night.

So yes it was worth it all around for me.

I've done a projector retrofit on my mk5 not long ago, it was a fair bit of work but well worth it in the end. The light output and beam pattern is so much better.

The retrofit was about half the price of the reproduced projectors somebody else has linked above... I'm not sure what the quality or light output on those would be but maybe worth a shot.

Also, I tried HID in the standard housings and I didn't even bother driving it, it was glare city...

Hi, Adey wanted to ask if you used the factory projector headlight and rewired it?

I've used an after market projector by morimoto

Bi-Xenon: Mini H1 7.0 - HID Projectors from Morimoto HID

They are one of the best after market projector kits but as I mentioned above there is a fair bit of work to install them.

How much fun is it to remove the outer clear lens from the back part of the light. Permaseal is great stuff.

I tried it on my Mk6 GTi and gave up. Ended up buying aftermarket lights which were a direct copy of the optional xenons the car came with. They were great but not sure how they would hold up over time.

Removing the lens was painful!! I've done retrofits before but the glue vw use doesn't soften with heat like others do- great for sealing but not so much when working with... Fun times and wouldn't do another vw lens to be honest lol
