Could be from the transmission — also might still be from the motor, a little oil can make a big mess and the dipstick is a hit-and-miss measurement at best.
Last Wednesday I noticed a pool of oil on my driveway after having my car jacked up since the Monday as I was painting my rims. I checked my oil levels and looked for the source of the leak and the oil level hadn't moved and I couldn't find the source of the leak. During the week I found it leaving more oil spots wherever I parked (work, uni) but the oil level never changed. Coming to the end of the week on Friday I noticed it wasn't leaving any oil spots anymore, which confused me.
Today I washed my car and where I had it parked after I washed it and moved it there is now a puddle of oil again on the driveway.
My oil level hasn't changed and I still can't seem to find a leak??
I had it taken into a shop last week to fix a coolant leak and they didn't mention anything about an oil leak, the only thing I noticed was a bit of oil on one of the torn bolts next to the far right spark plug which I cleaned off with a towel and hasn't reappeared since. I noticed one of the torn bolts next to the spark plug (different to the one that had oil) was loose, so I tightened that.
Is it possible there is oil on the outside of the oil pan from a previous oil leak and the water is just draining down it with the oil? Or could I have an oil leak? I have had the car for about 7 weeks and have only noticed it the past week since I had it jacked up, but I had noticed once before a small pool on the driveway.
If anyone has had anything similar to this or would know anything about it I would love to hear it!
Thanks

Step1: Remove the undertray. It's probably an oily mess.
Step 2 Inspect the engine & transmission using a really strong torch & possibly a mirror. Have a really good look at the filter housing
Step 3: If you still can't find the leak, degrease & dry the undertray, drive for a week & remove the undertray & see if it's oily again. Look closer at the engine.

Can't find any leaks and hasn't leaked anything since the day I posted this..
This weekend i'm taking off the undertray and giving it a good clean, hopefully it's nothing!
Thanks for the help guys.
Oil filter cap leaks are common, as are leaks from the oil cooler/filter housing.
There's also two breather pipes from the cam cover that break and can vent oil. Same goes for a broken dipstick tube.
