Hi everyone,
Been working on repairing rust on my Golf V, sanded down to bare metal to get rid of the rust, repaired the dent using body filler/putty and then applied filler primer. At that point everything was looking really good until I went to SCA to get a custom paint spray can to match the car's colour.
Looking at the identification sticker in the trunk, paint code is LA7W so I gave this to SCA and I've never seen this but the paint code returns like 6 different paints in their system. I mean it defeats the purpose of having a paint code if 1 code refers to multiple colours?
Here's a pic of their software with the 6 colour variants/shades
If you look at the "Description 2" column you can the different shades, redder, lighter, greyer, lighter/bluer and lighter/paler
The SCA guy had no idea and suggested that it would most likely be the standard shade. So I went with the standard version and it's not matching my car's paint.
Does anyone know how to figure out for certain what shade I need to get? Can VW help? Is there a piece if information I missed on the identification sticker in the trunk?
If that helps here's a pic of the golf and its identification sticker located in the trunk.
Hope someone can help
Thanks

I wouldnt use spray cans as they eventually go chalky and terrible Far better to pay the money and get a spray painter to do it properly
