Pads/Discs replacement for 09 Jetta 147tsi

Hi All,

Just had my car recently serviced by the dealer (60k) and they’ve reported back that the pads and discs are in need of replacement. Have been quoted about $1200! for all 4 pad/discs to be replaced. Car is a family car so not looking at performance brakes etc… have been happy with the factory standards but hoping to switch to something with less brake dust. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for pad/discs (been looking at the Bendix euro+ pads) and also any recommended installers in Melbourne’s East/South East. Thanks!

ATE Ceramics on the front, ATE rotors all round and doesn't really matter what you put on the rears as they don't generate too much dust. But if you want no dust then you can put ATE ceramics on the rears also.
Since getting ATE ceramics on the fronts on my R36 (with ATE rotors) I have all but eliminated the dirty front wheels effect.

The first thing I'd do is ascertain how bad the brakes are. Dealers are usually quite conservative when making recommendations because customers hate returning before the next service. You might still have 10,000km left.

I'd change if there is <3mm on the front & <2mm on the rear.

Try one of the VW specialist independants. There's a couple in the SE. Look in the recommended repairers section.

Ok thanks for the recommendations. Will look into. I like the sound of the reduced brake dust from the ATEs!!

Just wondering also, should I not get a brake light wear indicator on the dash once the fronts get to a certain level?
