Congrats mate love the factory body kit, I wish mine had it
Thought I'd post up some pics of my new family chariot which has the added bonus of being fun for me
Has 120K on it. I was suss on whether the timing belt had been done, so I did a precautionary full service on it including timing belt kit, all filters and oil change. Timing belt tensioner had 2007 marked on it.. So now its all up to date and drives great. Seems to have almost every possible dealer option on it including the body kit which I have never seen before.

Very nice
Nice mate. Got one the same and they are a great little sleeper car. If you don't mind me asking, what did the your big service set you back. I have just clicked over 100k km's and I will be doing the timing belt etc. shortly into the new year. Would like to know a rough price so I know what to expect. Thanks mate.

Thanks, I love driving it. Its funny how it looks so conservative, but goes like a gti. And the body kit has grown on me now that I know it was a dealer option. At first I thought it was some aftermarket unit and I wasn't keen.
snerlo, I actually did the timing belt myself, or with a volkswagen-trained mate I should say. Depending how confident you are it isn't really that hard. But you have to take your time and do it right, and most importantly turn the motor over a few times with it all together to make sure it is right! This guide is really good DIY: 2.0T FSI Timing Belt Replacement for GTI/A3/Jetta - VW GTI Forum / VW Rabbit Forum / VW R32 Forum / VW Golf Forum - Golfmkv.com. I got the full timing belt kit for $400-ish from GTI Imports in Sydney. Its from Tooley's I believe. The belt is Continental which is what you want, it has all new tensioners and rollers, and the water pump is a Hepu with steel impellers which is apparently better than the oem unit which still have plastic impellers and can self-destruct.
Same as mine ( without body kit), absolutely love the car...enjoy.

Awesome looking Jetta, how much did you pay for it ???
Thanks, was just over 10K. So far I have fixed a couple of rattles - inside, the stupid air con vent that sits on top of the dash, and most satisfyingly the knocking sound that seemed to be coming from the driver side front strut. It was just the sway bar to sub-frame bolts on that side which needed to be nipped up. I'll be keeping this car pretty much stock as its the family car. But I'm going to throw on a bigger rear sway bar. Its not as chuckable as I thought it would be. It just needs that nice weight transfer turn-in that you get with a stiffer rear end. Springs/shocks/ride height are staying stock. That should be enough.. maybe
