MKV Jetta Day Time Running Lights Install?

    Hi all,
I recently purchased a set of day time running lights off ebay, they were only cheapies but i thought i'd give them a nudge. The description says that the negative wire just hooks up to the negative terminal of the battery and the positive wire hooks up to the "ignition fuse box" so that they come on when the car turns on. However i'm not quite sure how to do this . Also i tried to search an install on the forum but couldn't find anything. Could someone please link me to a thread of how to install day time running lights or inform me of how to do so?

    Kind regards,
    Platzie

I wired mine to the front headlight as there's an active wire there on accessories.

Thanks for your reply mate. They look like the exact same ones i bought! Could you shed a bit more detail on how you installed them? Did you have to cut out that little plastic bit in the grille for them to fit?

Sorry for the late response i've been away and not able to get to the computer. Is that the wire that is labelled "1" on that plug that it goes in to? (blue and black[possibly dark brown]). If so, do you just strip that wire and attach the positive lead of the DRL's? Does the negative wire of the DRL's hook up to the battery? And lastly, do you hook the right DRL up to the right headlight and the left DRL to the left headlight? Or can you just hook both DRL's up to the same headlight. Cheers for your help ian.

I just spliced the two together and made the one connection , there's an earth bolt near the headlight on the inner guard just splice both earth and solder a round terminal on so it fits under the earth bolt .

Oh okay so connect it to earth not the negative terminal, got ya. And so it is the blue and black striped wire labeled "1" that you connect the positive to?

Also, does this mean the DRL's only come on when the lights are one?

The DRL'S will only come on when the Ignition is on, that wire is only active when the ignition is on .
