    MK6 Climatronic Install Strangeness

    Hi everyone,

So I finally decided to go ahead and fit the Mk6 Climatronic to my GT Sport. The panel went in like a treat but when I tested it before putting the car back together, I couldn't get the panel to show me any lights or enter the calibration mode. All that happened was the fan came on full bore (at least I think it was the fan) and I didn't feel any air in the cabin.

Does anyone have an idea as to what could be going on? I was uncertain as to what was happening and so I put the original Climatronic back in at it's all fine and dandy again.

My gut feeling is that the panel wasn't powering up to take control and so the fan went in to a fault state and turned on. Using the Accessory position, ignition on position or starting the engine made no difference and the Mk6 panel appeared unresponsive in all three situations.

    Suggestions welcome.

I only did the Pin 16/20 swap. My Climatronic is dated 05/07 so I did wonder about the additional wiring but didn't feel brave enough to cut that far in to the harness without further corroboration.

well I didn't bother doing that, it just means when ever i turn the car off that i have to set the climatronic to what ever it was when i was last in the car, so not sure if that is a deal breaker for you.

You can at least set the defaults for the climatronic close to what you would normally have it, less buttons to press each time you turn it on

It's not a deal breaker to be honest so perhaps I will try that this weekend. Thanks for the feedback.

You can set a default start up when you turn the key to accessories, set it and then remove the key.
This is what I did with mine because I didn't do the pin swap.
