Hi mate. We speak again.. I just magnet tested the Mk6 IHI version of this turbo's mani and its very magnet sticky. It could be that the Borg Warner is a stainless version still though I guess but I doubt it.
Hi All,
I was just thinking and working through the possibility of putting the MK5 turbo onto the 1.8t engine.
There are few adapter kits out there. But i was wondering what the OEM turbo manifold is made from.
Is it cast iron or cast stainless steel ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
cheers

OEM manifold is cast iron. Making it from stainless steel is unnecessary, is less durable and more expensive.
Hey Sam, good to see the magnet tricked worked.
Thanks Lucas I wasn't wanting to make it from stainless steel.. One way ito attach it to the 1.8t manifold is adpater plates... I was also thinking maybe welding on stainless flange with the 1.8t pattern so no need for adapter plates.
Thanks clay
If you need some custom manifold work done, id highly recommend Chris from 360 Custom Fabrication. He is about 30mins south of Newcastle (so not far from the Central Coast). He has been doing some manifold fabrication just recently if you check out his Facebook page.
