Turbo Jettas are AWESOME.
Hey guys, I'm pretty new on here but i'm looking at buying an '06 Turbo Jetta.
Just was scouring ebay etc for mods and I really wanted to get some new headlights with the LED daytime running lights.
I was just wondering if you knew whether these would be complicated to install by myself, or would i be best to take on the services of a professional?
I was just worried because of the LED lights not being standard, would there be extra wiring to be done.
Thanks guys, I'm hoping to be a member to the Turbo Jetta owners club very soon![]()
Turbo Jettas are AWESOME.
What headlights were you looking at? And what year Jetta do you have?
The MY10's have the same central electrics module as the Golfs so it shouldn't be too hard to wire in some DRLs. If you're looking at a new headlight cluster, they could use the LEDs as a replacement for the parking light therefore not needing any extra wiring - but will only turn on when you activate the parking lights.

Its an early model, a 2006 to be exact.
I'm not hugely technically minded, but good at following instructions, so if it wasn't to hard and there was a basic run down on the net somewhere i'd be good, but i wouldn't want to just experiment.

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say that the LED's would activate as soon as you turn the parking lights on. Also, does your Jetta have front fog lamps? I know that on the earlier models; there's an option in VAG-com to use your fogs as DRLs and they turn off when you turn on the normal headlights. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the earlier models have the module set up for DRLs via seperate lights.

Hey buddy,
Welcome to the forum and the turbo Jetta club. I too have been interested in obtaining some different headlights but one major point with the lights that you are looking at is that it doesn't seem to say that they are right hand drive (RHD) compatible, which basically means that the sweep in the headlight is on the wrong side. Sorry to bust your bubble but I would hate for you to spend the moolar and find that out.

Thats interesting I didn't think there would be a difference. Thanks for that though.
If I do find ones that are RHD compatible, is it a complicated process when it comes to fitting them?
I know I have tried to change just the lamps in headlights previously in other cars and its been a major hassle unscrewing the housing that holds them.
I love the idea of LED DRL's though
It doesn't matter too much when it comes to projectors (from what I've read), but it still pays to be safe. It's not a huge job to change them over (I've done it three times now) but it's much easier on the older Jetta's for some reason. I'd be more than happy to help if you need it as I could probably do it with my eyes closed![]()
I like the idea of DRL's also, but I'm currently trying to conceive a way of installing a set that will work within the headlight cluster and preferably aren't LEDs.

Hey guys,
Its easy to get lights to come on without having to have headlights on and so forth. I have done that with my XR8. Those LED DRL's do look nice but it is a fine line with going overboard in my mind. b00thiness, the headlights I would like are what Maca has. They look OEM but do not have the xenon bulbs. They are a little pricey though so I am waiting for them to come on special, or find something else that looks nice. It is not easy to make a decision in my mind!!
