Mk5 R32 purchasing guide

Hi there, i am looking at purchasing a Mk5 R32 in the next few months
i am looking for advice from the forum regarding me making the best purchase possible.
if anyone could help me answer the following questions that would be much appreciated

what problems did they have:
what must i look out for when buying:
KMs - what too much:
how to identify problematic DSG's:
3 door or 5 door:
price guide:

try and get an 08, as they don't have the sticky/fading dashboard controls, and has the upgraded canbus system
make sure the DSG doesn't thump when changing down gears
my son has a 2 door dsg with 240k on the clock, so far, so good, no issues!
