    MK5 GTI spluterring under load

    Hi,

Above car has just developed this fault. Seems to only happen when turbo is spinning. Also has been hard to start on colder days. Any ideas? Fuel injector stuck open? Fuel pump? Engine management light has lit up intermittenly when foot is hard to floor and spluttering. Also dual tail pipe looks unusually black ( not sure if this is linked). Have not noticed any excessive fuel consumption

    Thanks

    Chris

I reckon you are over thinking this. Plenty of other explanations for your running faults. The first thing that should be done is a scan with VCDS, which will reveal any faults.

Plugs, coil packs, HT leads, fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors, carboned up manifold, low boost pressure (or none of the above.)

In other words, have someone qualified check it out.

As already said a dtc scan will help pinpoint an area to start with.

VCDS scan...if its putting the engine light on then it should be logging a code...hopefully a cylinder detection misfire code to give a good starting point...VDUB...
