I had a Unitronic DV relocation kit on my MK6 GTI and it fitted just fine.

Has anyone had any experience relocating their DV when upgrading to a K04? The DV relocation kits from AWE and Unitronic claim to only work on LHD cars, but it's unclear to me how the pipework is different between LHD and RHD cars, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't fit. I'd rather not have to buy a collection of OEM pipes for a Mk6 R or Pirelli Edition if I can avoid it, and I'm still using the OEM DV (with a GFB DV+ upgrade), so I'm assuming I'd need an extended wiring harness. Any help/experience appreciated!!

Amazing - just the advice I needed! I'm guessing there'll be some differences between the setup on the TSI and FSI engines, but it's still hard to see why this wouldn't work.
Did you find many advantages using an aftermarket DV? I'm hoping to recycle my OEM/DV+ setup to save some cash, but it looks like the install would be easier with something like a Turbosmart or Forge unit (although I think the Unitronic kit comes with an extended wiring harness, so that ought to help). I also read somewhere that the Unitronic kits only work with Unitronic intakes, but looking at your setup I'm assuming this isn't true?
I had the Unitronic intake so i cant really comment on whether it will work with other brand intakes. I guess as long as the intake tubing size matches then it should work. And yes the Unitronic DV relocation kit came with the necessary wiring harness extension.
I had my DV relocation kit originally installed with my OEM/GFB DV+ diverter valve but this actually rubbed on the wiring for my intake temp sensor (orange and blue cables in the photo above) and wore through the cables resulting in an error on my dash. This was the only reason why i purchased the much more compact Turbosmart DV which no longer rubbed on those cables. I had to buy a new plug for the intake temp sensor and re-wire the plug - all good after that.
Ok, this all makes sense. I'm running a mostly stock intake at the moment (the stock airbox with an APR carbon pipe and a K&N filter), so it sounds like it might be worth picking up the Unitronic intake along with the relocation kit. And this is good to know! I'll look at some way of shielding the wiring when I put the OEM valve in.
