Haha and ironically it was precisely this fact that had a lot to do with me buying my Jetta over a Citroen or any other car. It may have done 75,000 km but has no rattles, feels like new and drives like a dream. All the doors still have that brand new airtight 'thwummp' when they close.

I bought my car at 12 000km and in six months have done 5 000km.

    So far....

Leather handbrake boot has come unstuck
DSG playing silly buggers (nothing new it seems)
Indirect vent on top of dash rattling
Passenger side centre aircon vent loose (points at the roof after a while)
Drivers side speaker or door trim rattling (even with the bass set low)
The bit of trim on the headlining near the rearview mirror broke and is now loose
Random clunk in steering when on lock (normally turning into driveways)
Cover on the snorkel of the induction fell of and got munched by the thermo fan
    Passenger door lock buggering up
Radio randomly selects a different volume level for each preset station

    Thank god for warranty.

Got to say, build quality has been below what I expected.

    Thats dissapointing.

    Mines a 06 MKV GTI 116,000kms

    • Drivers side seat bolster worn (tartan) its worn only in 1 spot so much that its almost created a hole.
    • A/C Vent clip has fell off on a few vent - the clip which controls the direction of the wind coming out.
    • The buttons which control the alarm and tow motion sensor have been pushed in behind the side pillar and now I cant access it.
    • The little plastic cover above the inside rear view mirror has came off and cant be pushed back in to place.

None of the issues really bother me though, perhaps the seat is probably the only worrying thing because it will most likely get worse over time to the point where ill need to have it repaired

Saying that Jess, all those niggles (except the DSG) don't matter when I take for a run through the twisties.

My front center parking sensors seem to think there's something close to it sometimes.. Even when there's nothing there.

My cruise control display won't show the speed set, instead it will show "0".

There's a single thud/knock when I accelerate or brake hard.

After 9000km, engine warning light on intermittent. VAG-COM diagnose indicating fuel regulator valve short to ground.
Fist visit to VW dealer, they had the valve replaced. Didn't solve the problem
Second time, they took apart half of the components in the engine bay to find out that it was actually a wiring problem. The wire from the ECU to the fuel regulator valve within a bunch of cable has problem. They have to run a new wire from the ECU to the value to solve the problem.

Exhaust system warning light was coming on..engine would stutter sometimes when accelerating. Took it to VW service centre and they made some adjustments and problem went away. When it got its 90,000km service soon afterward, they said the problem was the coils and they needed to be replaced (covered by warranty). Passenger side indicator relay on mirror stopped working and needed replacing too. These are the only issues I've had in my one year of ownership. Overall, I'm very happy with the car - as long as there are no major issues from this point.
