This year VW has changed its part stocking policy. Unless the part is involved in a recall, used for general maintenance, or is an essential part to repair a car after a crash, it will have to be ordered in. No more stocking parts just for the sake of it.
Nothing unusual about that, carrying slow moving parts costs a lot of money and creates a risk in obsolescence. The difficulty for any spare parts operation is giving shareholders a reasonable return on investment at the same time as providing a decent service to customers. It's mission impossible for them.
