Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 2008 Golf GT TSI 1.4 and have a couple of issues:
The turbo stops working after about 5 minutes when first started. It pulls fine when the turbo is working then decides to stop working at all. The boost gauge shows a tiny amount of boost after the turbo stops working. Supercharger pulls fine.
Anyone had a similar issue or know what it might be? It's been happening for a month or so and a few days ago the engine light has come on.
Also, I'm in Tassie so any suggestions on where to take it? I called Andrew Robinson automotive but he is busy this week and I'd like to get it seen to as I'm on holidays. I'm willing to wait though if there is no one better.
Cheers

Most likely the N75 valve, pretty common on the GTs. If you have a multimeter I can tell you how to test it.
I had the exact same issue on my GT last year. It'll be the N246 as well. You'll need to replace both.
The easiest test is to watch the rev counter as you accelerate. If the boost drops suddenly at 3,500RPM it's almost certainly the N75/N249 combination. Get your mechanic to run a diagnostic test directly on the N75 and it will fail.
