You could try....$250 in vw world is nothing..you pay $5 for one wiring crimp. So a whole loom ready and made up with all connectors for that price is good

When you see bills for 10 -$20,000k for repairs $250 is notjing..

You could DIY it, but it's a fairly involved process that requires the removal of the inner and outer door skins.

As said, they're not cheap, but it's a known reliable fix.
