    tow bar

1 dealerships do not fit tow bars without fitting the wiring harnes due to liability reasons

2 the tongue is removeable and yes the bumper must be chopped but most the time neat ,the bumper bar gets removed and the bumperbar support bar get removed and replaced with one that has a tow bar and does not protrude underneith but protrudes outward but as i said can be removed and vw offer a cover so neater than any old bumperbar place but im sure its all in the pack it isnt cheap.....

Thanks for the information William. Appreciate that.

Will speak with the service department and see what they have to say.

    Cheers,

The "genuine" bars are made in New Zealand. Maybe you could chase it up from there.

A mate of mine had a Ford Falcon that he had put in but he didn't want it to putrude out from the bumper but he wanted it under the bumper. There was a company that did it for him came to his work and fitted it for him no hassles and cheap to. I think that it was $250 not sure.

Hi guys, just joined, and I see you have my photos. Sorry about the size!
The dealer in Adelaide fitted the bar, and yes I had a problem with the plug being at the base of the bumper. I wiped it out on the first steep drive that I came to!
The bar and electronics package was bought with the vehicle when new. Price was $1,200.
A friend has a Caddy which had a Hayman Reece bar fitted, but no electronics. The dealer wanted $800 for the electronics and fitting. He imported the Can Bus bits from the US for about $100, and then had a local person fit the system. He saved a heap.
