Hi everyone,

I purchased a 2005 2.0 FSI auto a few weeks ago with about 100,000kms. Soon after I took delivery of it, the engine light came on and it started misfiring. Common problem I know and I had the coil packs and plugs replaced. All good for about a day and then the engine light came back on with similar but not the same type of misfiring. After 4 days at a local VW specialist they say they cannot replicate the problem and the engine light is staying off. The codes they were able to pull suggested a knock sensor issue.

The mechanic told me that they don't know for sure, but he suspects it could be a bad injector. Estimated cost for replacement of the set is $2000. He said that bad injectors are very common in this model, although I can't seem to find much info on that. He wants to know what I want to do.....

Anyone else experience this? Also I am surprised at the cost of the injector work, although I suspect most of this is in labour.

Should I bite the bullet and shell out or keep driving and see what happens? What about some injector cleaner in the fuel - will that work?

Cheers

Andrew
