Local Michelin Pilot Super Sports same as US?

Tirerack and US forum sites indicate this to be the go all weather performance tyre for the GTI (warm perth summers and wild winters).

Understand these tyres can also be sourced locally, however are they the same tyre (compound, tread etc) as those supplied in the US?

Can't say but I bought some ContiSport5's from Tirerack for my E class and they were different to the local ones (which are German production not US) however, that wasn't positive or negative, just an observation. I was told the tread pattern was like an older ContiSport by the guy who fitted them, but they also had a higher load rating than the local tyre (I deliberately got the high rating for towing)

the pss is made on various locations depending on size and the target market.

sometimes slightly different compound too (oem fitted vs aftermarket fitted).

but does it really matter for the average daily street use??

if you look at the "all weather" one then you are looking at the wrong one.

it should be under extreme.summer performance

The US all seasons tyre is designed with snowy winters in mind.
We don't really see the terms Winter/Summer/All seasons tyres in AUS.
Go with the summer tyre, that will suit 99% of AUS.

Yeah, European and USA all seasons are designed with a compound that works at below 0C - so unless you drive to the snowy mountains a lot, probably not required in OZ. A summer tyre is better here as it is more likely to be hot than cold (unless you live in Taz!).

Agree, all weather is not for Perth, all weather means not snow belt but freezing and may get sleet, all the way to hot, but they may be noisy and/or wear fast
