    Jetta wont start

It all started off with car only changing between D2 or D4 and blinking yesterday morning. I was able to park it and when came back to it and tried to start the engine, car thinks that its in a gear even though i can change the gear from P to D to N to R to S no issues it moves as normal. When i turn the key to start the car it shakes and try to jump forward but it sounds like brakes are on which stop the car from moving forward even i take the hand brake off.

I also try to put the car into N and try to physically move the car but it does not move. I have asked a friend for the scan tool once i get it not sure what do i need to do as i never used it.

Mechatronics unit was replaced on the car few years (30k) ago. as previous one failed when it went into limp mode. Back then i paid arm and leg to the dealer for that!

Car has done 160kms. Regularly serviced.

any help would be highly appreciated.

also the brake seems to have been released and car is back to normal and starts, i think it happened because of DSG basic settings procedure.

any clues to what is next for me to try

That looks like one of the shift forks is not in the correct position, possibly the mechatronics or shift fork failure. Did the work that was done 30k ago have a warranty with it?

Does the car now work after the basic settings?

I rung the dealership and was told that warranty on that works expired while ago (2 years). I drove the car a bit and it went back to D2 or D4 blinking mode the only thing which didnt happen is that i can again start the car, its not stuck in gear like before.
i dont think the basic settings fully worked as the code was
    255 9 0

    not

    254 0 0 (successful)

I am currently searching to see what does the code
255 9 0 means but havent found much info.

should i be looking at finding the replacement mechatronics unit, i hope not. Dealership told me if its mechatronics it would cost $3500 to replace it!

If it were my car, I would be taking it to a specialist that deals with DSGs

Car was parked in the garage for couple of days, i took it for a test drive this morning did not encounter any issues. I came back tried to perform a basic settings got the below

    255 84 0

Could it be a software issue ?

Rego expires in few days and I am now thinking should I invest more time and money into this car or let it go.
