Have you got a multimeter so you can test the voltage of the battery ? Does it make the cranking sound ? But not turn on?
Good morning fellow enthusiasts.
Tried to start my 2010 1.6 Jetta TDI this morning. It cranked over showing no signs of firing.
I tried again after letting the "glow plug heat up till long after the light went out; same.
Tried again after listening for fuel pump running then stopping. Something ran then stopped.
If the glow pug was cactus; I imagine the engine would start with a few coughs ???
Any ides? Anyone? Please!![]()

Sorry u did say it cranked over lol. Have you got it scanned ? It could be anything.
How long have you been letting it crank for?
I have a multimeter. Original Jetta battery coming up 5 years. I have a Hilux and jumper leads. Jetta turned over quite vigorously this morning-but a bit on the flat side now.
Haven't had it scanned. I'm out in the bush and the nearest VW workshop is over100 ks
Anyone experienced a failed glow plug?
if 1 glowplug has failed then it would start up with a bit of a missfire. whats the volt reading when its craking?
Flat battery I bet

Should have put money on it Hillbilly-jump started off a Hilux using jumper leads. Think its time to get a new battery.
Thanks for the help, guys.
I thought so. From my first comment I said to use a multimeter
