I LOVE the chrome lower grille on this Jetta, but prefer the standard Atlanta alloys...sorry.
    They suit the Jetta best.

Guys, does $890 installed sound about right to drop it 30mm on H&R springs?

I wouldn't count on it dropping by 30mm. That is a rough estimate based on average. I got some of the extreme lowering H&R springs which are said to drop 50mm and with those mine only dropped 30-31mm in the front and about 12mm in the rear. Still looks good but no way near the 50mm they were supposed to be. Mine before lowering didn't look anywhere near as tall as yours so if I were you I'd go for the lowest you can get. You need it.
Eibach ( I think thats how you spell it ) also make a 50mm drop series, if you hunt around on the net you can some for under $400 delivered to your door and it will probably cost about $200 - $250 to install by a pro.

We dropped our jetta on 30mm h&r's and it went down about 35mm.

I love the stance of it now, also handles so much better.

I'm on my iPhone so I don't know how to put a link but search "mini build thread" and you should find it.

IMO I would not use 50mm springs as the ride turns to sh...... With just springs. I know from experience with my last bora.
If you do go with 50mm springs you will have to get matching shocks and then new swaybars ect.

If you want to go lower than 30mm you may as well go coilovers.
