Installing GTI seats in 07 golf TDI

    Hey guys,

Just picked up GTI leather seats and planning on installing them in the TDI next weekend. I was wondering if there's any DIY guide specific to Aussie models as the TDI seats comes with manual seat adjustment dials whereas the GTI with electric dial and also have heated front seat option.

If anyone would be kind enough to give us a hand that would be great as well. Happy to compensate for the time with ice cold beers. 😊😊

    BTW I live in Sydney.

    Thanks

I'm assuming they will bolt straight in - I put mkv GTI seats in my caddy but I had to cut of the locating pins and drill a few more holes for the bolts to fit.

With the power for the seats and heating I have no idea.

    Suggestions:
    1. Disconnect battery before starting
    2. Clean the new seats and condition the leather
    3. Remove the old seats and vacuum the carpet
    4. Run 12v from a the fuse and connect to the black plug - Don't quote me but I think the power for the seats is a brown wire as well as a red wire. They are both thicker than than others.

The yellow plug is for the airways. Make sure you connect this properly before connecting battery otherwise there is a rumour that an airbag fault cannot be cleared by Vagcom and needs to be done by the dealer

PS. In case you want heating connected : How To: Mk5 Heated Seats Retrofit - page 1 - How to Guides / Troubleshooting - MK5 Golf GTI

    Enjoy!

I fitted non-leather 2008 GTI seats into my 2005 sportline, the only issue I had was the the yellow airbag connector had been updated/changed shape by VW so my local VW tech/friend was good enough to sort that for me.

I would think connecting leather seats with heating and electric controls would be more complicated.

Thanks heaps gents for the heads up. Definitely couple of things I need to look at it. Being 2007 model, I'm assuming the connectors should be the same as the 2008 GTI. As long as the electric seats work, I'm not really too fazed about the heated seats.

I think I've seen leather seats in GTD similar to GTI so hopefully it should be plug and play.

Planning on changing them on Saturday and with rear ones and then move on to front passenger.

On a side note, if anyone with vagcom in Sydney be able to give it couple of tweaks that would be great.

I willing be installing rcd510 hopefully in couple of weeks so vagcom is needed. Happy to compensate in alcoholic beverages for the time.

    Cheers

Rear seats are easy, but the front definitely won't be plug and play - the airbag plug might fit but because your seats were manual, the plug for it will be missing. If the airbag plug is different hiweber, you might be able to disconnect the whole harness off the old seats and swap with the new..
