First post.....though I've been reading for a while.
Assuming both cars have been debadged and both are Comfortlines, is there an easy way to tell the difference between a 1.9 and 2.0 TDI?
To me, they would appear exactly the same right?
Are there any noticeable or obvious differences?

Ta for the welcome.
My point is, that if by chance you see a TDI in a car yard with no badges, how are you meant to tell them apart? You may not have the luxury of being able to compare with another, so is there a definitive way to set them apart in that situation?
Say a crafty salesperson decides to sell a 1.9 as a 2.0. I have seen a 1.9 advertised as a 2.0 but the Trendline spec was a bit of a giveaway.
Engine code!
Excellent
Do you have the different engine codes on hand by chance?
Look at the delivery sticker in the logbook.
Check out the Kws in the front of the service manual and I am not sure if the engine cover actually has 2l on it??
Welcome to the forum, its great to have you here!

The grills are different - the black cross hatch grill under the number plate is more open/has bigger holes on the 2.0 than the 1.9. If you have a look its obvious on 07 models anyway.
