I know of a few TDI's that go to 350,000km without cracking a sweat.
If you add more power to it, then it may not be a good idea at 210,000 but it all depends on how you maintain it with the added stuff.
I'd say at least 300,000 if modded.
I've recently bought a MK5 GTI DSG box and FSI early 06 model with a full service history with its belt done at 140,xxx at a well known sydney european specialist mechanic, single owner before me never missed a service, just this one worrying thought though..
It has 210,xxx on it currently and i'm wondering how long should i expect this car to last? I dont necessarily drive it like a grandma either, If i do decide to keep it, it my coilovers, big brake kit and engine mods will start shortly, basically everything that can be done before a K04 will be done![]()
Its coilpacks already died on me twice! left me stranded, but recently got new R8 ones so that will hopefully last.
So I guess what i'm trying to ask is, is it worth keeping and doing up? or should I sell it ? how long should i expect this car to last before needing major work? apart from usual timing belt and water pump i would assume.
Cheers![]()

Yep it should last to 300 000 km.
Well I interpret your question as "I have a car worth $10k and 200k+ km on it and want to know if I should spend another $5k modding it?"
I think you already know the answer but don't want to hear it - much better off selling and buying the $15k car![]()
