My first post so hope it makes sense. I'm repairing a Golf TDI with the BKD engine. My local spares store have ordered a 3 hole head gasket to refit the head along with new bolts.
My concern is that the original head gasket is the 2 hole so is marginally thinner than the new gasket. Will the small difference in thickness cause engine issues?
I'm not concerned about a slight decrease in compression but more concerned with injector spray patterns and piston crown damage.
Any thoughts from someone who has more knowledge with the VAG diesel engines?
Why not source the correct gasket? Gasket thickness isn't arbitrary.

It'll most likely run I suppose, but why tempt fate by using a none spec part?
If the jobs worth doing, its worth doing properly.
