    Gti golf MAF housing size

Just wondering if the GTi guys might be able to give me a hand with something. So I'm gathering bits for my fitment of a Golf 6 Gti IHI turbo onto a 1.8T 20V. This turbo is virtually identical to your Borg warner K03 so what I'm about to ask applies to your turbo. An adapter plate to allow fitment of both these turbos to a 1.8T 20V is nearly ready so I'm starting to think about the intake side of things.
Can any of you guys tell me what the I.Dmm is of the turbo intake piping at the MAF sensor? I ask because I have a 2.75in and a 3in I.D MAF housing on hand and am not sure which to go with. I'm worried the 3in will be a bit too big for this turbo in a 1781cc application so might go for the 2.75in if yours turns out to be <3in.

    thanks
    sam

Hey Sam - the stock plastic MAF housing on the Mk5 GTI engine is oval in shape - so it would be hard to give an accurate measurement.

    Like this: http://www.42draftdesigns.com/fsi-oe...e-maf-housing/

Although in saying this, pretty much all aftermarket intakes use a round pipe at approx 2.3-2.4" internal diameter.

Thanks Lucas. Ok that's smaller than I'd thought. Do you know if the Pirelli with the bigger ko4-64 use the same intake as a gti?

yep thanks buddy. I didn't realise that part of the intake is moulded into the vanity cover. No wonder I couldn't find Mk5 Gti intakes online as a continuous bit of piping.
Actually as I typed this I just got a message from the guy that will be tuning it to say that the 2.75in I.D MAF that I have will be the one to go with, so problem solved.

Intakes for the MK5 GTI, MK5 Pirelli, and MK6 R are all identical.
