Golf Mk5 2.0L FSI Brake failure - Super hard brake pedal

I'm back! This time with a more serious issue. Finally had the cars oil leak fixed yesterday and all was looking peachy. And then halfway down the freeway I get a call from my mother saying her brakes have failed...

She claims that all of a sudden the pedal went really hard and she could get the car to brake at all. I am suspecting that it is a loss of vacuum in the brake booster system, does that sound plausible to you guys? I have a theory that the mechanic has bumped something whilst he was in the engine bay (apparently theres a fair few plastic T pieces that hold the brake boost vacuum and they can break).

So I was just wondering if anyone has any advice/ diagrams of the vacuum setup for a golf mk5 2.0L FSI (non turbo) engine code BLX so I can do some diagnostics tomorrow?

Start at the rubber line into the booster, and work you back to the engine.

If a vacuum line as been bumped off, it'd probably run a bit crap, too.

Vacuum line melted on the metal pipe that runs to the right of the head. Anyone know where it's meant to attach to? There is a whole line that runs from the back of the engine bay to the front with a weird valve of some sort in between. It's just sitting loose at the moment because it appears the mechanic didn't put it back in the right place.
