The thing is, the letter was sent almost three years after my car was out of warranty. It was not long after that Golf GTI "limp mode" crash on the freeway down near you.

The letter also has a section on the back for people to pass it on to a new owner if you have sold the car. I don't know what the statute of limitations are on the recall but it would still be available. So ask the dealership if they have a record of the loom/injectors being done under the recall, if not, they'll do it for free.

If they say otherwise, I'll send you the letter

just got off the phone with bayford vw, and they've told me there's no "outstanding campaign" in turn she says it was done but it wasn't done by them, then i asked, well who was it done by? i don't know, so how do we know its been done? this seems like it's going to be alot of fun

just got off the phone with VW aus, she can only find out campaign which is "completed" which was ID 23H9, she said engine deposits can settle in pump injector which results in the engine running rough, is this the same recall as yours? and i would need to take it to a stealership if i wanted it investigated at my expense.

Usually there would be a sticker in the door shut for campaign being completed.

Have a look in the service book and see where it had most of it's services carried out.

Contacted VW Australia, says recall ID is 23H9 to take it to a VW dealer to check it out at my expense, service books say nothing most services at bayford vw which they were no help, and looked in the door shut for a sticker and couldn't find a thing.

Well, at least you have now ruled out one option in terms of diagnosis. Also you know it won't die on you on the freeway when the injectors fail.

As it's only got 60,000km in 6 years, I just think it needs a good clean out.

thanks benough, wont need the letter anymore, finally got some answers, was done by wodonga VW, spoke to them all 4 injectors were replaced including wiring loom and "appropriate bolts" since 2012 its done 6,000ks, so 3,000 a year not much at all, ive already done a good 1000 on it in the past 2 weeks so this now leaves me wondering what on earth is wrong with it.

Yeah, it's been babied for sure.

I had mine for about 2 weeks and one night it conked out, flashed like a christmas tree. The dealership did a forced regen on the DPF and then told me, in no polite terms, to flog it.

Try and only put BP in it as well. They are the only people in Aus who don't blend their fuels, 100% their own stuff.

Maybe on the weekend you freeway it to a mountain pass, gun it up and down, then freeway it home.
