Just wondering if anybody has installed a Ebay head unit Radio/Nav/Bluetooth etc.?
I purchased one made in China and came from China even though he listed AU stock Regents Park.
It actually works quite good for a minimal amount of money, did take some stress to get going no instructions and seller obviously did not know much about product he was selling going now and happy except for one problem seems to be Can Bus related, has a car info screen which shows when you open door etc.
Not no problem sitting still but when you put on seat belt and drive screen fluctuates between entertainment and car info like struggling with the seat belt anybody had this problem?

Yes it is and fits like a glove and everything else works fine very happy with that except for this certainly must be a can bus problem is confused somehow every thing else works via the can bus!

Possibly faulty canbus module or the one you have is incompatible?
When upgrading the stock headunits of these cars to the app radios in mk6 and above i believe you need to upgrade the canbus module to prevent battery drain. This could be a similar issue?
Could also possibly the learn procedure for the module did not work correctly? try disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes or so and reconnect it and close everything before starting the vehicle again.

well today I did stumble on a workaround, you get in the car and put the seat belt on then start the car and unit comes on with entertainment then NAV starts up and I drive off worked as it should twice!

I just installed a very similar one to you in my son's mk5 gti. Probably from the same seller too. We have a similar issue in that the car display shows left hand door open when drivers door opens and vice versa. Buy only for the front doors. ...not really concerned about it though. The same info is on the dash anyway. Everything else works great so far. I also installed a reversing camera into the unit...

These head units look like good value. Do they work ok with IPhones? Also do you avoid having to replace the can gateway for the battery drain issue? Any coding required?

My Daughter put one of these android head units in her Mk5 last year (october) she fitted it up her self. JUst removed original radio and fitted the new one in - no codeing required.
configuring it to get the doors around the right way was an obscure setting to change and didnt take effect till the unit had been turned off and back on.
Havent noticed a battery drain issue.
doung a vcds scan does report an error ie no radio installed. I tried disabling the radio from the gateway, that got rid of the error but also meant the radio wouldnt turn on.
The unit does what the ebay said it does and it looks good. The touch screen UI is difficult to use while driving. If it was my car id get something better I find the audio quality to be pretty grating.
