if your engine code is BKD there is no DPF installed - i think, according to the VW documentation i have... you can log onto erWin and purchase the Type 1K1 Golf Maint. document for the grand sum of 18.40 Euro to see why i say this...

but then in the same breath, there is a "No Biodiesel" sticker by my filler cap. Biodiesel kills DPF, so maybe it does have a DPF (?)

...and to top that off, next to BKD on the sticker inside the service book is DQF - whis is not DPF, but then you never know what Diesel Particulate Filter is abbreviated to in German haha.

Dieseldude - ETKA stands for 'ElekTronik KAtalog' and is the electronic parts catalog for all VAG vehicles. It's a must have for all VAG owners, it's much more fun that any computer game, you can play with it for hours and hours! excellent, thanks! so my guess would be that DPF would still be the abbreviation in German.

so my next question is, what would DQF stand for next to the BKD engine code in my service manual?

My 2.0 TDI is apparently a 2007 model and has no DPF that I can see. There is just what appears to be a cat converter which forms the 90 degree bend out of the turbo. From what I have read the DPF is a seperate casing/box to the cat ?

From what I read, there are no Golfs here yet that have the particulate filter fitted. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
OK, I'm a diesel nut, but I fully support the use of particulate filters as they're really the only downside of using diesel engines in urban areas. However, when you thnk about it, you would have to have a hell of a lot of Golf-size cars running around to equal the particulte emissions of a truck or two

I think youd be right especially given the small amount of diesel they actually use !! One would think that any restriction in the exhuast would have to be a bad thing be it a cat converter or particulate filter ?
