I’ve seen a few faded/dead Golf 5 LCDs in dashboards… mine seems to be intermittently bad… as a Christmas Eve project I thought I’d research how easy it would be to replace the LCD display and came across this German tutorial… turn on English captions if your German is as bad as mine…

About to look into the LCD replacement on my Jetta. If I don't feel comfortable doing the replacement, do I need a VW specialist or will an Auto-electrician be able to do the swap?

They're in Townsville, I'm in Cairns, about 4h drive. They appear to be worthy of the trip though and/or may travel up themselves. There are quite a few VDubs in the Townsville area and I am expecting to do the trip after a 200k service. Works in well, cheers.![]()
