Crank breather hose broken safe to block off ?

So the crank breather hose has totally disintegrated. This runs up from the crank to the left port on the rocker cover, I assume it then goes in through the PCV and back out to the intake.

I have a persistent code P2279 Leak in Air Intake System and a CEL.
This is the NON turbo FSI engine code BVY

I managed to block this off and the code is gone, car idles nicer than before and was fine on my 5min test drive.
From what I see online all the PCV delete kits seem to remove this port and leave only the return to intake.

I want to know what is gonna happen if I leave it like this ?

I managed to remove the hose clamp for the breather way down at the crank itself. It is a long way down and bugger all room to do anything.
Some long screwdrivers helped free it a bit before I could grab it with super long pliers.
New breather pipe is in, but no clamp at the bottom, no codes either.

Still wondering what would have happened if I left the PCV intake blocked off.

If it breaths you will kill it.
In other words if you block any breather you will potentially blow a seal somewhere

The blocked port was PCV input. Crank breather output was venting to atmosphere.

I guess the worst would be PCV pulling against a blocked port and diaphragm would fail?

leave the crankcase/ valve cover pipe open and block the port on the manifold inlet.

I replaced the hose, it was not easy and I did not manage to get the spring clip into the end of it at the crank. It does not leak and no more CEL.
Need to pull intake to get to the clip and that just looks like too much work to justify ATM.

where did you get the hose from? - Ive got to do one as well - it just disintegrated when I touched it yesterday

I replaced this one, from crank to PCV
Topran Valve Cover Breather Hose 116 346 Topran for Audi VW Skoda | Run Auto Parts

Then PCV out to intake is 06F103212D. I have not purchased one of these.
