    Coolant leak under inlet manifold

    Hi Guys,

Have a coolant leak somewhere at the front of the motor. 2005, 160,000kms FSI, 2.0ltr BLX engine.

How common are coolant leaks in this area? Thermostat housing maybe, how often do they need replacing? To get to it appears I have to take the inlet manifold off?

Also when doing searching for a replacement Thermostat unit, I see many at 109 degrees C is this right?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    Cheers

    Andrew

    Thermostats are usually 89degC.

For coolant leaks under the intake manifold, I'd be looking at the oil cooler/filter module.

My Thermostat unit was leaking cracked and leaking coolant at about 122,000 KMS. Was $400 to fix at a local mechanic...
Months later I had another coolant leak which was cause by a hole in the radiator and some of the hoses connected to the radiator
