Condition when pressing the accelerator pedal hard will cause the car to jerk

I bought an ‘05 MK5 and it has a problem where slamming down on the gas makes the car misfire and lag with the throttle however accelerating slowly I have no issues. What could this be and what should I do to tune it to make it a little more fun. I plan on adding aftermarket fuel injectors later and giving it a tune. What should I look for?

Bad injectors, spark plugs, dirty air filter, vacuum leak.
