    Compass Module Install?

Has anyone retroffited the VW compass module to their Mk5? My highline MFD is retrofitted and I run a non OEM stereo so I can't get the compass functionality via that.

The compass and wiring harness can be had off eBay/Aliexpress and there's only 4 wires that need to be connected for it to work but I'm a bit stumped as to how I would connect into the CAN-LOW and CAN-HIGH Infotainment wires?

What's the easiest location to locate these wires to tap into and is it safe to just use wire tap connectors as with standard 12v wiring in the car?

You can just tap them at the gateway module, or for easier access, from the original wiring harness for the stereo. Just positaps or whatever you want to use to splice into them.

Do those 2 CAN wires run to the connector for the cluster?

    No they don't.
Cluster has its own can connection to the cluster.
Infotainment can is gateway pins 10 (low) and 20 (high).
Then from the gateway the signal goes from pins 8/18 to the cluster pins 12/13.
So you need to wire the compass into the convenience canbus (and power, ground) and then add it to the gateway installation list, and probably to the cluster coding.

So I can wire the module into pins 12/13 of the cluster and they'll work the same as the infotainment CAN wires?

CANBUS module is to hard to access and there's no room behind my radio to install it hence why I want to use the cluster.

No that's not the infotainment canbus.
It goes from the head unit to the gateway if you put another device on the clusters connection to the gateway you'll likely end up with faults.
