    cheap way to repair damaged bumper mounts - amateur plastic welding

    well my 2008 vw jetta had been low speed crunched by the pO (hence him getting rid of it)
    the bumper mounting tabs had broken and the whole thing was pretty saggy and pretty ugly looking

    did a bit of plastic welding with a soldering iron.. just clean the plastic a bit with isopropyl then do angle cuts about 30-50% depth of the plastic. then do a second with the tip flat to remelt the plastic.... not prettty but strong enough to stop the bumper and radiator from sagging!

    Melting cable ties to use a "stitching" also works well.
