Have you got an anti theft mode apr file?
Hi,
Hoping someone might have seen this before. So I went down south for work last week and after driving down with the car not missing a beat, I went to drive somewhere after stopping and the CEL was flashing and i had no acceleration. I have had this once before about a year but I cleared the light and it never came back, this time if I clear the light I can drive the car perfectly, idles perfectly, drives perfectly, no loss of power etc but once I stop and remove the key, if I put the key back in the light is flashing again. I have a stage 1 APR tune but am having trouble using the cruise control functions to do anything right now so I can't put the car back into stock mode to see if it makes a difference.
I took the car to the small VW dealership where I was and had them take a look and they had a fault code relating to the ignition switch. They ordered the bit, did the swap and the fault code went away but the flashing CEL stayed. As did the no acceleration. I didn't have much choice as I needed to head home so given there was 0 fault codes showing on their system and I knew the car drove perfectly I've now driven the two hour drive home but still need to get this issue sorted. I am trying to avoid taking it to the local VW as I don't want them to dig too deeply and find the tune. Has anyone had this issue before, could it be something wrong with the tune itself? It's been fine for over a year now. Have not rung APR yet but will be doing so tomorrow.
EDIT: Forgot car details. MK5 Golf GTI Pirelli. Stage 1 tune is the only mod.
Thanks

Do you mean instructions on how to clear it? If so then all I have looked at was the APR website when I first had the issue as I was trying to see how to clear the fault using the cruise control buttons but I couldn't get anything to work. Didn't pay any attention to the anti theft section though I will admit.

No are you able to switch between tunes? Do u know the pass word for the cruise stalk?
Do u have an apr booklet of the details and password of your tune?

It's a 4 digit password
Found the invoice, says my password is just 123. Friend has a tuned Scirroco who's password is also 3 digits. Ill give it another crack tomorrow after work, car is at a friends right now as I have alot of driving to do tomorrow and didn't want to have to reset the code everytime I stop somewhere. Before this the only thing I had ever done was show a friend how I switch betwen stock and the tune so I am not that experienced in using the functions but a friend was guiding me on the phone doing the same thing on his car yet it didn't work for me.
EDIT: We did make sure we did the enable EMCS step first. Using this link - APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.

Sometimes if the ecu itself is malfunctioning it may change programs by itself and if you chose an anti theft mode as one of the programs it could of chose that. Anti theft mode allowes you to start and idle the car but disables throttle body combined with the engine light flashing.
Hm ok, definitely sounds exactly like what is happening. Especially since VW them selves are getting 0 fault codes. He did ask whether it was tuned and I just dodged the question for now as my warranty is still active. They fixed the ignition switch without noticing the tune so I would like to avoid them having to dig deeper. I will do more research on using the controls and have another go tomorrow. Hopefully that is all it is. Appreciate the replies.
