    Buying my first VW

    Hi all.

    I am still yet to purchase a VW yet but have had an offer excepted on a 2007 TDI Comfortiline 5 speed manual with 107000kms on the clock. Offer was $7500 (My max budget is about $10k).

    Anyone out there have some advice on the model or if it seems like a good buy?

    I am looking into VW due to safety and fuel economy. My new job requires a fair bit of travel.

    The guy that owns it says a relative of his brought it out from the UK and that it was serviced by VW over there (including timing belt and water pump) but the last 2 services he has done. Seem a bit strange?

    Thanks!

    Following me me posting this topic, I've just realised that this being a 5 speed manual instead of a 6 speed seems a little strange also. Can anyone shed some light on this also? In the redbook guide, they all seem to be 6 speed manual......

    Thanks again!

    Sorry guys but I've just seen one other thing;

    This car doesn't seem to have any electrics on the steering wheel or inside the drivers door. He is saying it is a Comfortiline. Shouldn't it have full electrics and cruise control etc etc?

    No wheel controls for aus delivered cars is a trendline spec.

    If it is an import then it opens 1000's more spec levels.

    Personally the kind of golf you are looking for i would steer well away from imports. Makes parts a nightmare. Also for the money you could get a better specced car IMO

    Do you have a car sales link? Can you get your hands on the VIN number?

    Other than that, 2007 Comfortline TDI, if serviced, will go forever.

    I bought the same thing in a Jetta at 150,000km. Runs bang on.

    Is it a PD or CR diesel?
    The PD can have injector issues I thought.
    The CR seem to be problem free so far.
