id have a look over seas to see what they are running as winter wheels.
know what size disc?
I'm looking for some quick info on wheel fitment on MK5 Jetta 147kw FSI
I assume this cars has bigger brakes (Like GTI) than say the standard 118TSI with 16inch wheels.
I have 18inch Charlestons @ 18x7.5 ET51
I'm looking to go down to MK7 Dijon @ 17x7 ET49.
Will these clear my brakes ?

OK so it seems the 2.0T had the option of 17 or 18 inch wheels
The 17inch wheel is the Classix 17x7.0 ET 54
17 VW wheel picture gallery 5x112
So if 17x7 fits with 54 offset, then I guess 17x7 49 offset will be much the same just sitting out 5mm.
So for my change from 18x7.5 ET51 to 17x7 ET49 it will be 2mm closer to the guard and nowhere near the strut etc.

Just checked the brake clearance with the current rim, got 35-40mm on the caliper, 50mm on the disk itself.
I think the disks are 312mm
So 1 inch less = 25mm diameter or 12.5mm closer to the caliper.
Someone tell me my math is OK.

as above,
if they are similar callipers to the mk4s you could go down to most oem 16s

AFAIK my standard 118tsi with 16 inch wheels runs 312mm discs.
