It's at the specialist VW place now, waiting to hear back from them tomorrow.

Apparently it's all linked to the ABS module which has failed, and causes everything else to malfunction along with it. Just waiting for the warranty paperwork to come through - hopefully it will all be covered!

Great news! The warranty company has agreed to cover the work. $1700 for an ABS module, thank god for them!

Good news, how about "Name and Praise" the warranty company - plenty of people are happy to bag the Insurance industry

"Australian Warranty Network" - I was doubtful they would pay out after reading all the horror stories on the web about them, but they came through. Also must recommend SVS Auto Care on the Sunshine Coast who are doing the work - absolutely brilliant to deal with. Super friendly and communicative and were willing to help out all the way. I'm sure the work will be performed without any problems

So it's just gone from bad to worse.

I was an hour away from picking up the car today when I got a call from the service place. The ABS pump now also has to be replaced which costs $2000 plus $950 to get it programmed. Now because the warranty people had already agreed to pay out the first failure (the ABS sensor module), they are refusing to pay out the additional failure. They only pay out the first failure, not anything connected to it. So now I am without a vehicle for the foreseeable future as I don't have $3k to drop

This is a very common issue with the Mk5 Golfs and there are many, many stories of the same issue especially in the UK.

VW are aware of the issue as they have been contributing 70% and sometimes 100% towards the cost of the repair, but I can't find anything on the net from people with the same issue in Australia. Has anyone heard of this specific failure and know where I should proceed to from here?

Pretty bloody depressed now as I've only had the car 6 months or so

Nothing came up on the MFD, only the error lights and the gearbox disengaging.

So I got the car back yesterday! After a month without it it was weird getting back into such an awesome car - nice steering feel, quiet, great suspension. After driving my parents Mitsu Verada for a month it was great to get back into the Golf
