Battery Drain? RCD510 installed 6 months ago...

    Hi guys,
I installed an RCD510 about 6 months ago, was told that I didn't need the CAN BUS Gateway module to avoid battery drain.
About 3 weeks ago, I have noticed that the GTI has been slightly slower to start. Doesn't seem to have gotten any worse, or maybe it's just time for a new battery soon..
My question - when people talk about battery drain with the RCD510, is it something that could happen this slowly (i.e. over 6 months?) or is it more like: in 24 hours your battery will be drained?

    Thanks

Its usually over night or a few days. If your car is pre 2008 (2005-2007) then it needs canbus updated ecu

If you don't drive for 2-3 days then it will be dead flat. Usually starts beeping to warn of low voltage after 12-24hr though.
If it's been this long possibly just the battery is dying.

    Thanks. It's an 07 GTI.

It died once a few months ago as I was washing the car with the stereo on. Luckily was on a hill so could roll start it.

It hasn't yet failed to turn over, but I just don't want to get stuck somewhere!

Also, in a few weeks we are heading away on a holiday for about 6 nights.. What is the best way to leave the car? Should I disconnect the battery? Get a trickle charger? Cheers.

As far as I know, the battery drain is for the RNS-510 and not the RCD-510. How old is your battery?
