Sounds great Bing56, congrats!
A few questions:
Did you put it on the dyno before and after?
Do you have DSG and if so are there any effects (positive or negative)?
How much does it cost?
Enjoy!

I had the gti down to the guys at Euro Tune Miami (Gold Coast ) today for a 6 hr demo flash. OH BOY what a difference it makes to the car. Pulls like a train with the extra tourqe, would be deadly in the wet. Esp working overtime!!!. I believe it lifts the KW to just under 200. Glen at euro tune tells me the golfs for Australia are detuned to allow for our crap fuel. Not a problem for me as only use 98 octane. When they re-map the ecu they fix this along with a whole lot of other stuff. What ever they do it works great. smooths out everything. the power just keeps comming on from much lower in the rev range. Anyway will have to buy it now for sure, Highly recommend Glen and the boys at Euro Tune. Glens loves the things he works on and thats what you want. If anyone is thinking of getting an APR flash , go for It...................

Hey Bing56 - I think you were first cab off the ranks when Glenn got back from holidays - he likes his cars, too many BMW race cars parked out the back though Hope you enjoy the trial
There was a DSG GTI done in Sydney last year, dynoed each step of the way - stock, software, airbox & exhaust - it was done on an MDX dyno which seems pretty common in Sydney (not so in QLD).

Tofo17, if you need to dyno a DSG, apparently the secret is to click up to the gear you want, but hold the paddle (don't release) - this forces the DSG to hold that gear, without doing that, the gearbox will keep shifting & spoil your power run. Dontforget to turn the ESP off too!
Hoyhoy.
Glen was the man who done my Polo back in OCT./06. His smile was bigger than mine because he knew what I was getting, & I didn't realise how good the APR was going to be.[nice chap]

Hooroo.
Hi Mate
No I hve not had it dyno'd. There seems to be plenty of evidence from others that have been done. Guy-H has a post with a link. Seems to match what the boys from APR claim. Glen from Euro tune told me that the ECU on my car was the most recent one so the flash down load didn't take long at all. My GTI is stock other than the flash demo done yesterday. The increase in throttle response is the most noticable affect. I now need to get back down there and
pay for a permanent reflash, around $1900.00 I believe. The demo is free. They are that confident that you will be back once the demo time runs out. Can't find anyone elso doing a reflash unit with that sort of deal. By the way my Gti is a manual. Hope to have the permanent reflash done in tim for the Feb drive day.
Thanks for the advice, but what if you don't have paddles (Jetta)?Originally Posted by Guy_H
Good question on the Jetta, I assume you would hold the shift stick in the up position - never tried it though!
I think dynos vary a lot anyway. The feeling in the seat of your pants when you drive the beastie is the best test. Call it, "grin factor". I was thinking of other upgrades however I dont think you could get the power to the ground. 4 wheel drives have it over us in that department, (rex's) for example. When you get moving it would be ok. A carbonio fresh air intake could be on the list, although have seen in other sites that the cost may not be worth it for the kw increase Depends how deep your pockets are !!!
True, they can often raise more questions than they solve. That said, using the same dyno and a good operator can be a nice way of getting some sort of quantification over the mods completed.Originally Posted by Bing56
Mind, I did before and afters when installing the CAI and exhaust on my MINI, but haven't bothered after fitting my 15% reduction pulley and ECU upgrade.
Talking about dyno's - the Sport compact car shootout on some heavily modified GTI's has just been published.
They had magazine editors, tuners, a rep from the dyno company present & they still had massive trouble with the DSG car on the dyno - ( you have to read the article - the sidebar called "dyno drama")
