Yes, doors aside, they are basically identical.

    Hoyhoy.
Me like, but I'm sticking with my baby GTI. I was told about the big 3 door coming soon. Then put 2 & 2 together, about $14,ooo cheaper after a good deal on the road even after a APR flash, & quicker.
    Hooroo.

Are people seeing many 3dr GTIs on the roads? I've only (just) spotted one other 3dr in Canberra, although I know there are more of them around in town.

IS there any difference in body rigidity between the two options?

After just picking up my car and putting a few miles in it i am prepared to say that the 3DR is significantly more rigid than its 5dr brother. That said the 5dr is still very torsionally stiff anyway. Maybe the 3dr is a better proposition if you where going to lower it as it would cope with the extra stresses better.

I will have photos of my new pride and joy this week. I was planning to do it this weekend but this Victorian heat s to much to stand and take photos in.

I was sold on a 5 door, but I'm really not sure now. I like the 3 door more, but the other option is more practical...

    Decisions, decisions...
