Do I have a DSG problem?

    Hey all,
Just wondering if other Mk5 GTI Stage 2, or 2+ tuned cars have jerky/rough gearchanges in 'D' mode at low/partial throttle?
After I turn a corner (or even just accelerating from a standstill), say 2nd gear, and give it a little more than general acceleration throttle (say 25-50%), it will build boost and just as it's building it will change gears, e.g., 2nd to 3rd gear at 30-35km/h, 3rd to 4th at 40-45km/h. When it does this it jerks the car, like it cuts all power for a short time, feels like someone hits the brake, and then picks up again.
If you stick your boot in more (say over 50%) the car will obviously hold onto 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear for much longer, and gear changes are smoother and seem quicker too.

In 'S' mode the gearchanges are quick and smooth, but I can kind of replicate the jerk in 'M' mode if I change up early in the rev range and 25-50% throttle. I have a torque arm insert and Rev D DV that was replaced about a year ago when the stock one failed.

I always thought that it may just be that the extra power/boost available on the 2+ tune is way higher than the standard car and the DSG thinks that 'only 25%' throttle requires a smooth, slow, gearchange as there is not much boost/power at that point on a standard car.

I've never noted any other issues with the DSG since I bought it 3+yrs ago. No missed gears, etc... other than the reluctance of the DSG in D mode to drop a gear unless there's more than 50% throttle, and then it'll sometimes try to drop 2 gears, e.g., it'll chug away from 40km/h in 4th gear rather than drop to 3rd gear at low-mid throttle, but I think this is a common complaint about Mk5 and Mk6 DSG cars.
Without having the ability to drive other cars, I'm not sure if my DSG has a problem? And I would like to know more, especially since my extended warranty runs out this year.
    Thanks for any advice,

(My Skoda wagon is a 2L TSI DSG configuration - with a stage 2 APR tune)
I have not driven many DSG cars but have never felt a DSG car jerk under any conditions
I have driven a DSG that was dumping the clutch heavily - not very smooth/pleasant

In D mode, if I brake and turn into a 90 degree corner and then accellerate after the turn the DSG will drop a few gears, the engine will roar into life and the transition is not very smooth, but the following up gear changes are smooth
If I manually change down during the turn all is well
If I get the braking done before turning and accellerate into the corner everything is smoother

    Sounds perfectly normal to me.

Best to get it checked professionally if you're worried about warranty cover.

My Mk5 with an APS ECU upgrade stage 1 tune does the same thing.

    Thanks for all the replies.
I thought everything was ok since it's never done anything (else) wrong.
I did change back to stock mode for a few trips and I couldn't replicate it. Was smooth/normal.

    Did stock mode fix it?
I've been having this problem too. Your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine! It's only at 25-50% throttle. Seems like something to do with a torque limit and the DSG getting confused. Have you got a DSG tune? I wonder if that'll fix it.

I don't drive it much in stock mode, but it seems ok when I do. That and I almost drive exclusively in M mode using the paddles. No more gearchanges when I don't want or need.
The DSG has been flawless otherwise.

Yea I reckon your car (and my car) is just calling out for a DSG tune!
Something about the torque limits of the DSG cutting power blah blah blah!
I may get one in a few months and post back if it fixes that problem!

Yeah my car did/does this before and after my engine tune. I would love to know if a dsg tune solves this.
