Did they perform basic setting after G85 was replaced?
Just be thankful yours is separate. From 2008 onwards, G85 was part of the rack!
hey guys i got a 2005 golf and i got some trouble here, my yellow steering wheel light came up and it's checked as
00778 steering angle sensor (G85) malfunction
the car drives normal, besides after i make a turn, the wheel will return to 'almost' center if i let off the wheel, the final 1/4 turn of the wheel i have to do it myself to straighten it.
went to a VW specialist they tried reset and didn't work so went ahead and changed the steering angle sensor.. still exactly the same problem. they didn't charge me for the work which was fine but they reckon i will need to replace my 'Steering control module'
im not sure if that's the same as 'steering aid control module(J500) or is there something else. also some site says the control module is right below the steering wheel, but some sites say it's the part of the steering rack assembly so will need to replace steering rack.
anyone know what could be wrong with my car?? i havn't got a price on the repair yet but mechanic says it's gonna take a whole day. im not interested in paying $1500 to fix an orange icon on the dash that not affect drive-ability. and why is VCDS saying angle sensor malfunction when it's not?

Can you provide the full VCDS scan here?

Just post up the scan containing modules that have logged faults.
Otherwise it's just a massive block of letters and numbers we have to sift through.
